Three Great Patterns For The Creative Home Dressmaker

Creative home dressmakers have always modified patterns and mixed elements from different patterns to design their own dresses. Pattern companies have now recognized this and offer patterns with design units that can be combined in many different ways, allowing the seamstress to become designer Cocktailjurken 2012 and dressmaker in Een Schouder Prom Dresses one. Here are three of the most versatile dress patterns for custom dressmaking.

Simplicity 2724 is inspired by Project Runway. Choose a sleeveless bodice or add short or long sleeves. High Low Schoolfeest Jurken Neckline options include a jewel neck, v-neck with pointed collar, or v-neck with mandarin collar. Join the top to a slim skirt with a vent or a fuller skirt with released pleats. A wide fabric sash and front ruffle detail are additional options with this pattern, available in pattern sizes 4 through 20. A special feature of all Project Runway patterns is a traceable croquis: a sketch of a figure with traceable skirts, sleeves, etc. to enable the user to draw designs before cutting and sewing them. Yardage requirements are listed for each separate element, making it easy to purchase one fabric for the bodice and another for the skirt if desired.

Simplicity 2591 is part of the Threads Magazine Collection. Four different views give choices of a scoop neckline with gathers or a wide jewel neckline. Slimming princess seams in the bodice front and darts in the back show off a trim waist and join with a moderately full gathered skirt. Make this dress sleeveless, with a set-in capped sleeve, or with a short raglan sleeve. All sleeves are sleek enough to fit under a jacket for a business look if desired. This pattern comes in sizes 8 through 24.

New Look 6824 is a dress pattern for all seasons in sizes 8 through 18. Mix and match pattern pieces and fabrics easily, since yardage is given separately for each construction unit. The princess bodice can be joined to a short, pegged skirt or a longer, pleated skirt. Jewel or scoop necklines are included, along with a wide cowl collar. A sleeveless option, capped sleeves, 3/4 length sleeves, or long sleeves with a ruffle give almost endless possibilities. From a sundress for summer to a winter dress for the office, this pattern can do it all.

With one or more of these dress patterns, the creative dressmaker can design a frock for any occasion. Select your neckline, sleeves, and skirt, then have fun selecting fabrics for each component. Add a great pair of shoes and have a new outfit in no time.
